Herringbone parquet boards

Herringbone is the oldest and most recognisable way to lay parquet: identical blocks meet at 90°, giving the floor a clear rhythm and visually widening the room. The Terris catalogue holds 12 herringbone designs — all three-layer European oak, 14–15 mm thick, most with an oiled finish that can be renewed in patches without sanding the whole floor. When choosing, look first at the top layer — the solid oak wear layer: the catalogue offers 3 mm and 4 mm versions, and the thicker layer allows the floor to be sanded more times over its life. The second criterion is the installation method: some blocks connect with a click system, others are laid tongue-and-groove or glued to the subfloor. Herringbone boards also suit water-based underfloor heating — in that case we recommend gluing them down.
