XL-format oak boards

XL boards are the longest and widest in our catalogue: up to 2200 mm long, up to 400 mm wide, with an overall thickness of 14–18 mm. The category holds 24 three-layer European oak designs. A large format means fewer joints in the floor: the pattern reads calmer and the room feels more spacious, which is why XL boards come into their own in living rooms, open-plan kitchens and other larger spaces.

Three things are worth weighing. First, the top layer: the catalogue offers 3 mm and 4 mm oak wear layers — the thicker one allows more sandings over the floor's life. Second, the finish: most designs are oiled, which brings out the natural grain and lets you renew only the damaged patch — the trade-offs are discussed in our article on oiled versus lacquered boards. Third, the installation method: some boards click together, others are glued to the subfloor; over water-based underfloor heating we recommend gluing long boards down.
